2017 Mid-Year Update

We’re still green but getting better! Now where do I begin…

From Florida, we traveled through Georgia to Tennessee and visited Nashville and the capitol. Then we went to Mammoth Cave NP in Kentucky. Mammoth Cave was the first national park I visited when I moved to the US so I thought it fitting that we would visit here first as well. We then traveled to back down to Chattanooga to visit friends from Cayman. Chattanooga is a nice town! From there we started west towards north Texas, stopping at Hot Springs NP in Arkansas. I participated in a GORUCK Constellation event in Dallas and we visited with some of Tanja’s childhood friends.

We drop down to the Houston area to visit my family, eat some BBQ (we are in Texas after all!) and then head to the beach in Galveston. Aiming next for Roswell, NM we visit San Antonio and Austin and visit the capitol as well. From Roswell we cross to eastern Arizona in one, very, very long day and then push a little ways north to Petrified Forest NP.

We have a little time to kill before needing to be in Las Vegas so we headed to Sedona and loved it. We end up in Boulder City and meet fellow Airstreamers Alumalarkey who we last crossed in Florida in February. Tanja and Meegan travel back to Cayman and returned with our friend Kayla, who will spend the next several weeks with us visiting the Southwest. While they were away, Kyra and I explored the area and did our best to cope with the record heat wave.

Once we are reunited, we head east on Historic Route 66 and visit Grand Canyon NP.
