Canada to Florida

We were graced by a very late summer so staying longer in Ontario was far from a hardship. As we were in the neighborhood, we decided to visit more Cayman friends in Montreal. We played tourist along the way and as well as in Montreal. In the right place at the right time, we explored a bit of the Mont Tremblant area looking for fall colors. Old Montreal really felt like Europe for us and it was wonderful.

Our time in Montreal had to come to an end so we reentered the US via Vermont and made our way through the Adirondacks and Lake Placid towards more Cayman friends in Skaneateles. We moochdocked for a bit and played tourist again.

Then its a short drive to Maryland to visit our friends Alumalarkey who we last saw at SolarFest. While there, we had a surprise visit from more Airstream friends, This Is Our Next. Then it is over to the Airstream Factory Service Center, the Mothership, for a service appointment and several factory tours.

After a successful visit at the Mothership, we headed towards Nashville and a family meetup. On the way we are able to hangout a bit with Less Junk More Journey, one of our inspirations for getting on the road. In Nashville, we visited the Country Music Hall of Fame and also get together with anther Airstream family we met at Zion last summer. Unfortunately our recently replaced front AC unit fails again but as we have flexible plans, return to the Mothership.

On the way back to Ohio, we stop in Kentucky to visit the capitol and tour the Woodford Reserve bourbon distillery. Back at the Mothership, we make more friends and spend more time visiting the National Museum of the US Air Force. We also spend time visiting the the Nation Park Services aviation heritage sites in Dayton. We then head to Charlottesville, VA to visit another Cayman friend and see some of a very foggy, Shenandoah NP.

Planning ahead, notably for Alaska next year, we head south towards Chesapeake, VA to visit the offices of RVDataSat and test their satellite Internet setup. With the history of flight still fresh on our minds, we decide to head towards Kitty Hawk, NC. We find ourselves in the Outer Banks in off season with great weather to visit Kill Devil Hills. In an aviation context, we walk on hallowed ground, the very place that powered flight first took place.

Our last stop before heading back to Florida for Thanksgiving was Myrtle Beach, SC. Not only had we never been but fall was reputed to be a good time for birding. The birding was good and our time in Myrtle Beach was too short. Our new mantra, we said we would return. From South Carolina, it was a short drive to Savannah, GA for an overnight stop and then back into Florida.
