In the beginning… part 1

A family of four humans and a cat were longing for adventure, so they flew from their home in the Cayman Islands, to Florida and purchased an Airstream travel trailer, specifically a 2017 30FB Flying Cloud Bunk. Thank you Derek Weakley and Mike Harlan of Airstream of South Florida / North Trail RV.

Backstory

Once the idea of an RV hatched in early 2016, we took every opportunity to visit RV dealers whenever we traveled. After considering our options and desires, we decided that a travel trailer was best for us. We wanted as small a rig as possible but one that still provided the kids with their own space. And of course, we all had to be happy with the choice. A Keystone Outback bunk house was close but not quite there. One dealer had several Airstreams on their lot and we kept gravitating to these even though the layouts weren’t even close to what we wanted. We then considered a custom Airstream build, perhaps a renovation – something not easily done remotely. Low and behold, we discovered that Airstream does make a 30′ bunk model but they’re very hard to find in stock. Fast forward to summer 2016 and while traveling back from Europe through Canada, we found a dealer that had a one on their lot. We drove several hours to see it and as the saying goes, the rest was history. We finally knew what we wanted.
