Let the adventures begin!

With no real RVing experience, the learning curve was steep. We did regularly refer back to our walk through videos when hitching and unhitching and it was an adventure each time we dumped our tanks. Slowly but surely, we got the hang of things.

We spent most of January figuring out our groove. We also learned the hard way that this was high season and consequently bounced around the parks riding on cancellations. We visited Orlando several times, once just to visit a university friend that was visiting Disney. We also crossed paths with several Airstreamers and finally had our first meetup with another family, Alumalarkey, who was in the same park as us. We also visit Kennedy Space Center and even see some rocket launches.

In late February, I took a short trip back to Paris to visit family. I also brought back essential supplies including camp towels and inflatable kayaks. My return to Florida coincided with of several wildfires, which we fled. We attended the Florida Strawberry Festival, where we saw the Blues Brothers in concert and also left our first campground out of concern for our safety. We then headed over to the Space Coast and attended the Tico Warbirds Airshow where the girls and I flew in a Vietnam War era Huey. I flew twice! We spent more time at Kennedy Space Center, notably to have our favorite soft serve ice cream. Yes it’s out of this world! We doubled back to the Gulf Coast, dropped off Bubbles at North Trail RV for service and we all returned to Cayman for a bit. Tired yet?

Among the various service items, our front Dometic AC unit and our Dometic fridge were replaced. We also added an Airstream-approved Fiamma bike rack to the back of Bubbles. We celebrated another birthday and then did a big round of provisioning in preparation for finally leaving Florida.
